Scarlet Microneedling Radio Frequency Add On Area: 72‑Hour Aftercare image

The most important rule after Scarlet Microneedling Radio Frequency Add On Area is simple: keep the area clean, calm, and out of the sun for the first 72 hours. This add-on is a 45-minute session that uses RF microneedling to create tiny controlled injuries, so your skin needs a quiet window to start its collagen repair work. Here in Allen, that means being extra careful with our heat and strong Collin County sun. If you follow the basics below, you usually protect your results and keep downtime low enough to plan around real life.

Quick planning tip: If you’ve got photos, a big dinner, or a busy weekend at Allen Event Center or Watters Creek, give yourself at least 3 days between Scarlet RF and the event. Your skin will thank you.

First 24 to 48 hours: treat Scarlet RF skin like it’s “open”

Right after RF microneedling, I want you thinking: less is more. Your skin may feel warm, tight, and a little tender, kind of like a mild sunburn. That’s common. What causes problems is heat, friction, sweat, and strong products too soon.

My non-negotiables (Day 0 to Day 2)

  • Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. No scrubs, brushes, or cleansing devices.
  • Keep hands off. Don’t pick, rub, or “check” texture all day. Touch introduces bacteria and irritation.
  • No makeup for at least 24 hours, and longer if you’re still noticeably red or sensitive.
  • Skip heavy sweating, gyms, hot yoga, and long outdoor walks. In Texas humidity, sweat sits on the skin and can sting or trigger irritation.
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, pools, hot tubs for 48 to 72 hours. Heat and shared water increase irritation and infection risk.

Comfort tricks I’m fine with

If you feel puffy or hot, use a cool compress for short periods. Keep it clean. And keep the pressure light. If you’re commuting along US-75 and you’re tempted to crank the heater or sit in a hot car, aim for cool, comfortable air instead. Heat can keep redness hanging around longer.

If you only remember one thing: sweat + sun + strong products in the first 48 hours is where I see people accidentally set their results back.

Days 3 to 7: the “looks normal” phase that still needs rules

By day 3, a lot of people feel like they’re back to normal. And you might be. But your skin is still repairing under the surface. That’s why I keep aftercare simple for the full first week.

Hold off on these until your skin is fully calm

  • Retinoids and retinol
  • AHA/BHA acids and peel pads
  • Benzoyl peroxide and other “strong acne” actives
  • Chemical peels, dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, and other pro exfoliation
  • Anything heavily fragranced or “tingly”

If you’re prone to darker marks after irritation, this week matters even more. In Allen and across Collin County, that sun is strong, and heat brings more inflammation. Keep your skin calm now, and you’re usually happier with the tone and tightness you see later.

Aftercare products I like: gentle cleanser, bland moisturizer, SPF 30+

I keep Scarlet RF recovery routines boring on purpose. Your skin is already doing the hard work. The goal is to support it without stirring up extra sensitivity.

Cleanser

Fragrance-free, non-foaming or low-foam, lukewarm water only. Pat dry with a clean towel.

Moisturizer

Go “bland.” Think simple, fragrance-free hydration. If it stings, stop and switch to something gentler.

Sunscreen

Once your skin isn’t weeping or extra raw, use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+. Reapply if you’re outside. Try to avoid midday sun completely for the first few days.

If I’ve recommended a home routine for you before and it’s been working, stick with the gentle parts and pause the actives. I’d rather restart strong products a few days late than have you fight redness for weeks.

Redness, makeup, gym time: the 5 questions I hear every week in Allen

What’s normal?

Mild to moderate redness, warmth, and tightness are common early on. Light dryness or a sandpapery feel can show up as you heal. Most people feel presentable quickly, but I still want you planning your big events with a 3-day buffer.

When should you reach out to me?

If you notice increasing pain, redness that keeps spreading, pus, blisters, or new dark patches that are getting worse, reach out promptly so I can guide you. Don’t try to power through it with random products.

"This is the best day spa around! I visit Stephanie monthly for my facials and she always takes time to listen to what I'm looking to improve in my skin and never pushes me into an upsell I don't want."

one of our regulars

My promise: If you’re unsure about something, ask. I’d rather answer a “quick question” than have you guess, especially in our hot Allen weather when sweat and sun sneak up fast.

If you’re trying to fit recovery around work, school pickups, and commutes between Allen, Plano, and Frisco, evening or weekend appointments can help you keep the first 48 hours calmer. And if you’re stacking services, I’ll help you space things out so you’re not doing too much at once.
